The Transportation Research Board’s Urban Freight Transportation Committee (AT025) is concerned with the study and research of urban freight transportation topics and issues, including urban transportation system demand and economic relationships, right-of-way issues, pick-up and delivery needs, terminal transportation needs, institutional challenges, and new technology, with an emphasis on providing support to practitioners.
Hello, Urban Freight community –
I am delighted (and slightly daunted!) to be taking over from Bill Eisele as your new Chair. It is a particularly exciting time for goods movement and supply chains, and I am looking forward to supporting our community’s pursuit of research and best practices through my tenure.
As part of that effort, I am thrilled for our committee’s role and support for the new Supply Chain Subcommittee that TRB has recently approved. Joe Bryan, a former Urban Freight chair and current member emeritus, is spearheading that effort. Our committee is one of the founding supporting committees. The first formal meeting will be at this year’s annual meeting, and I encourage you to attend it.
The annual meeting is our marquise event, and we are back to our usual slate of 2 podium sessions and a poster session, in addition to our committee meeting. While the annual meeting is a very exciting opportunity to gather, the work of our committee lasts all year. We have had quarterly committee meetings (you can review the meeting notes on the Meetings page), managed the paper review process, and submitted a Problem Statement to compete for funding.
In the winter we will be updating our Triennial Strategic Plan. I welcome your input as we review our history and plan for the future. I encourage you to read our previous TSPs on the Strategic Plan page as we prepare for the update.
Becoming a friend of our committee is as simple as going to www.mytrb.org, creating an account and clicking on our committee to become a friend. You will then receive my direct emails alerting you of our latest TRB Urban Freight Transportation Committee news.
Best,
Erica WygonikChair, TRB Urban Freight Transportation Committee
